New macro lens: Sigma AF 180mm f/3.5 EX HSM APO macro

Last week I bought a used Sigma AF 180mm f/3.5 EX HSM APO macro (Photozone Review). It is my first real macro lens and it has a maximum magnification of 1:1. It is the Sigma pendant to the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM, but only costs half the prize if bought new. Sadly to say that this lens isn't build anymore.

Today I used the first spring sunbeams to photograph some oxlip (Primula elatior) together with Stefan Christmann who recommended me that fantastic lens. We found a few exemplars of oxlip in a nearby forest and got some very nice test results:

Steve owns the same lens (Nikon version) and with his camera we did some tests with a flash illuminating the blossom from the side (but not with the Sigma 180mm lens):
